January Newsletter
Welcome to the first newsletter (in a long time) by the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council ("DLANC"). DLANC is a connection to your neighborhood.  By the modest design and layout of the newsletter, you can tell that volunteers are still needed to help with a variety of tasks; even the smallest things.

Department of Recreation and Parks Meeting January 30
The City's Department of Recreation and Parks is hosting a meeting Downtown to discuss what kind of activities, programs, and more are needed at our downtown parks.  A Citywide Needs Assessment will provide the Department of Recreation and Parks with information to use in planning for the future of our parks and programs. For more information and to find out about what to expect, visit the project website at http://laparks.org/assessment_blog.htm.
When: January 30, 2008; 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: LADWP Cafeteria at 111 N Hope Street

DLANC Office Volunteers Needed
Are you looking for ways to meet a new neighbor, or get back into volunteering in your community?
Do you know someone who needs to volunteer hours for class?
And did you know that our DLANC office is open during ArtWalk?
DLANC ArtWalk volunteers help to answer questions like "when's the next meeting?" or "What's a Neighborhood Council?"
You don't need to know the answer - you'll find that out when you visit the office. Volunteer for 1/2 hour, 3 hours, or for all of ArtWalk. Three to five volunteers are needed every second Thursday of the month.  To schedule your hour, contact Ginny at ginny@ginnycase.com, or at 213.248.0698. The DLANC office is located at 450 S. Main, happily close to Bert Green Fine Arts Gallery, and Pete's.
