LOS ANGELES SKYLINE

Los Angeles has one of the largest skylines in the United States. In 1911 the city updated the height limit ordinance to 150' (decorative towers were exempted). The 1911 ordinance was repealed in 1957. The skyline continues to reach upward due to seismic design standards which are highly earthquake-resistant. The U.S. Bank Tower is now the tallest building in the U.S. West of the Mississippi river.

Arts Committee

Mission Statement: Develop Downtown Los Angeles into a 21st Century Global Arts & Culture Epicenter. Transform Downtown's existing, diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-culutral, multi-dimensional arts & cultural activity into a dynamic, thriving, interactive, cultural force. We accomplish this through defragmentation of our existing systems, artistic cross-pollination of our various groups, and by creating coherent branding of our Downtown image and strive for aesthetic advocacy.

We need dedicated people with various viewpoints and experience in arts, culture, education, business, design, and preservation. We invite the creative neighbors from other neighborhood boundaries who have a stake in Downtown to join us. We will make Downtown (our downtown), a viable, creative urban enrironment that people will recognize as a force in creative lifestyle, culture, and the arts.

The AAC is creating new projects that address dynamic changes in our community. Our committee depends on dedicated Volunteers and their contributions. We believe in a Creative LA. Believing is the first step in achieving!
