LOS ANGELES CITY HALL
The architects may not have had it in mind, but L.A.'s City Hall is famed as a co-star in the classic tv series Dragnet and Adam-12. The mayor's office and the L.A. City Council's meeting chambers are located in this center for the government of the City of L.A. Completed in 1928, there are 32 floors with a public observation level on the 27th floor. The concrete in its tower was made with sand from each of California's 58 counties. In 1976 the site was designated an Historic-Cultural Monument.
Sustainability Committee Downtown Green Pockets
Planting Small Gardens Everywhere
One of the projects proposed by the Downtown community for 2010 included mapping small spaces around the neighborhood that could be transformed by planting little gardens - with native plants, grasses, and maybe even edible plants. Join us for a 30-minute introduction and find out more about the project and how you can get involved.
PLEASE NOTE: This is the same meeting as the one scheduled for February 17 - it is an alternate time for your convenience.
Big Sunday is a city-wide volunteer event that included more than 50,000 volunteers for projects in communities throughout Los Angeles. The Sustainability Committee has applied for an event over the weekend of May 1 and May 2. The goal is to develop at least three gardens for planting that weekend. Help us plan this event or the garden project. Find out more at this meeting!
Meeting Location: DLANC Office, 453 S. Spring Street, Suite 1020
